Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - One of the best": I think that The West Wing has become one of my favorite shows, ever. The combination of incredible writing, beautiful camera work and captivating storylines make this show a winner. I love the continuing stories, which is probably one of the reasons why I became so sucked in. Just as I couldn't wait for season 2 to find out who was shot, I can't wait for season 3 to see how the President will protect his office. (read entire review)
The Complete 1st Season - Great set, Mr. President (11/16/2003)
Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Great set, Mr. President": It's rather strange, but after my recent trip to LA I feel a connection with The West Wing. On a tour of the WB studio I watched as they mixed the final audio for an episode of the show. I saw props used in the series in the WB prop facilities, and I even saw executive producer John Wells getting out of his car. I've also been to Washington, DC and walked along the street outside the Whitehouse, and visited some of the monuments that are shown in the first season. Although the show is filmed in LA, they make trips to Washington a few times a year to shoot exteriors that simply can't be recreated in California.
Gord's West Wing Tidbit - The person that digitally painted the airplane to look like Air Force One is the same person that did the 3D graphic menus for The Abyss, T2 - Ultimate Collection and Independance Day - Jonathan Banta. Bet you didn't know that!
For a show about American politics, this Canadian found it to be extremely enjoyable. I don't think I've ever gotten through a set this quickly, and I know I've never watched 8 episodes of a show in a row. For the price of a night at the movies for 2, you can own one of television's best dramas in this wonderful DVD set. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I have; I highly recommend it.
