Summary of "The Thorn Birds - Perfect Valentine's Day gift": While long, romantic mini-series' aren't my cup of tea, I can appreciate that this was extremely popular when it first aired. It's series like this, and Shogun that make me realize we'll never see something this popular again. Cable, video games and even DVD have diluted the TV viewing audience so much that seeing a single mini-series or television show that can pull in over 50% of the viewing audience seems unfathomable. I doubt we'll ever see one of these "Big Event" shows again, and it's too bad.
