Summary of "Quest For The Infinity Sword, Volume 1 - Better than the Canadian release": This Shout! release is definitely better than the Canadian release. The video problems are the same on both sets, but the Shout! release has two extra episodes, as well as the 5.1 audio (a major plus). With that said, the Canadians already have two volumes out, so there are 10 episodes available in Canada compared to the 7 in the US. Factory's US release, which features both an English stereo AND a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, won't suffer from the same compression issues as the Canadian releases. Summary of "Volume 1: Hero Up Squaddies (CAN) - Did anyone call for a Super Hero?": This is a fun, though sometimes silly, Marvel animated series. My first thought was "wow, the characters look like toys," so I wasn't surprised when the inside of the DVD case has a checklist for some Hasbro toys (which I found out the show is based on).
While I enjoyed watching the show, I was extremely bothered by the compression artifacts, and really wished the audio was in Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of stereo. Shout! Factory is releasing this in the US in July, and they're going to have 5.1 and stereo tracks. Hopefully the compression on that release is better than on this one. Volume 2 was also released the same day as Volume 1 in Canada, and contains the next 5 episodes. (read entire review)
