Summary of "The Complete 3rd Season - S&H Return":
The possible inclusion of syndication episodes has me a bit bothered. It's fairly easy to check the length of the episodes, and if the episode looks short, as these two do, then some research can be done into the episode.

The third season contains some noteworthy guest stars; Joan Collins (Dynasty), Stepfanie Kramer (Hunter), Suzanne Somers (Three's Company), Dee Wallace-Stone (E.T.), Danny DeVito (Taxi), John Carradine, Melanie Griffith, James Sikking (Doogie Howser, M.D.), Kristy McNichol (Empty Nest), Pat Morita (Happy Days) and Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice).

Just one season to go and this show will be done on DVD! (read entire review)

Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - Season 2":
I found the second season of the series more enjoyable than the first, probably because I didn't spend time wondering if the show was supposed to be a drama, or a comedy (the movie threw me off a bit). When a loaded first season set came out I wondered if Columbia TriStar would keep it up for the second; they didn't. The release of the second season set is timed with the home video release of the theatrical movie from Warner Bros on the same day.

After having just gotten back from Las Vegas, I found the opening 2 episodes to be rather funny. Man, that city has changed a lot since Starsky & Hutch aired! (read entire review)

Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Sweet Torino!":
I hadn't seen an episode of this before I put the first disc in, so I was heavily influence by the upcoming movie staring Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. Unfortunately for me that meant I was expecting a comedy, which it turns out this isn't (cheesy 70s attire doesn't make a show funny). It took me awhile to realize this so I ended up rewatching the pilot with the understanding that it's a drama. If you've never seen the show before then you should be aware of this from the start so you don't fall into the same trap I did. Once I realized the show was a drama I enjoyed it, but not as much as more recent police dramas. I think I go for larger ensemble casts rather than two main stars.

Columbia TriStar has done a nice job on the extras for the set, although I found the mention of "Exclusive new interviews with David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser" slightly misleading. Yes, there are interviews with the two stars but they are part of "Making of - Behind the Badge" which is also listed on the back of the box. Technically there are interviews with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as well, but those are part of the movie featurette. I spent a bit of time looking through the menus trying to find the interviews before realizing what they had done.

I always worry about these TV releases that are tied into movies - will we see followup sets, or is this a one-shot deal? I guess there's one way to solve the problem - if you're a fan of the show you should buy the set so Columbia TriStar continues releasing the series. I want to see what kind of trouble the boys find in season 2, and I'm sure you do too. (read entire review)
