Summary of "Volume 2 - Get more Johnson": What a joy it was to finish watching this series. Though I banished it to a box, I hadn't forgotten about the show that brought me so many laughs. It must have been hard for the writers to make so many sexual jokes in an episode. You have to pick your words carefully, yet still have them make sense, and be funny at the same time.
I'm thankful Shout! Factory stepped in and finished this series. I won't claim it's a classic, or something that "must" be finished on DVD, but I'm sure glad they did. Thumbs up to Fox for licensing the set out, and to Shout! Factory for releasing it. (read entire review)
Summary of "Volume 1 - Go S.U.C.M.A Cocks, Go!": I feel that I should mention the wonderful guest stars that appear in this set. Jack Riley (Rugrats), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Corbin Bernsen (L.A. Law), Erik Estrada (C.H.I.P.S.), Alan Thicke (Growing Pains), Gary Coleman (Diff'rent Strokes), Corey Feldman (The Goonies), Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Pat Morita (The Karate Kid), David Arquette (Scream), Lukas Haas (Heavy Gear), Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, M.D.), Gilbert Gottfried (Problem Child), Jackie Martling (Jackie 'The Joke Man' Martling), Dweezil Zappa (Duckman, Son of Frank Zappa) and Jerry Springer (Springer).
Well, my first exposure to this show was a print ad in one of the mens magazines (probably Maxim). We don't even get F/X in Canada so I didn't give the show a second thought until I heard it was coming to DVD. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect. I knew it was a comedy, and I knew it poked fun at shows like Baywatch, but I had no idea it would be crammed with sexual jokes and blatant titillation. At least the show Is supposed to be cheesy comedy, as opposed to Baywatch which was supposed to be serious, but often had me laughing. Son of the Beach had me laughing out loud in every episode. If you've never seen the show and are a fan of comedy, consider making this a blind purchase, assuming you're male between 18 and 34.
