Summary of "Season 2 - See ya Sledge!": Well, here's another series wrapped on DVD. There's been lots of talk about a jump to the big screen, and creator Alan Spencer mentions it again on the commentary. I think it would be a cool idea, which could then lead to increased DVD sales.
Anchor Bay usually licenses their material, and sometimes they're purchasing finished products that they just bring to retail. Sledge Hammer! was something they worked on with Spencer, and the sets are a good indication what the company can produce on their own. It also helps to have an enthusiastic creator along for the ride. I'd have to say the two Sledge Hammer! sets are the strongest sets they've put together, and they're worth adding to any collection. Summary of "Season 1 - Cool Show, Great DVD!": I must say that I'm very impressed with this set. Obvious care and attention were given to it, and the result is outstanding. In fact, I think this could be the nicest TV set Anchor Bay has released. Entertaining commentary tracks, no laugh track, a good featurette with cast interviews, the unaired pilot, TV spots, photos, scripts and an attractive booklet... I wonder if they can keep this up for season 2.
If you want to laugh, but you hate the standard network sitcom then you'll want to take a look at Sledge Hammer!: Season 1. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing." (you knew I had to put that in the review somewhere). (read entire review)
