Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - It's season 1!": While I didn't watch every episode in its entirety, I had a lot of fun watching the first season of Saturday Night Live, and I learned a lot as well. You'll probably laugh at a few of these revelations, but I'll share them anyway:
Kris Kristofferson can sing! I had no idea he was a singer, I thought he was just an actor. I'm not a country music fan, and I was pretty young when he released most of his recordings.
Is it just me, or does Mel Gibson look a bit like George Carlin in his opening monologue? Maybe just a bit?
Billy Crystal has gotten funnier. I didn't really find his appearance on SNL very funny; he's gotten a lot better.
They had problems getting guest hosts. I could be wrong here, but how else do you explain the same person hosting the show twice in a season, and it happened 3 times!
I'm frustrated that there are cuts on this set, especially when I was told it would be completely uncut. The bumpers are debateable cuts, but the others aren't, and it degrades the DVD set. It's still an amazing feat that they cleared all the musical acts in the first season, and hopefully this sells well enough that we'll see season 2 released. I have to wonder whether they'll jump around between the various eras of SNL; I'd like to see some of the Mike Meyers era released, but I'll be an old man if they do the seasons in order. They also need to sell a LOT of copies of this set for us to have a chance of seeing season 2 released.
Here's the complete list of what's on the DVDs, according to the chapters for each episode:

Summary of "The Best Of Jon Lovitz - Love Lovitz": I've never gone out of my way to watch shows with Lovitz, but I've appreciated him in The Critic and NewsRadio. I don't think I ever caught him on SNL either; I think I started watching the show shortly after he left. Lovitz played some great characters like Hannukah Harry, Frenchie, Picasso and The Devil; I had a blast watching this DVD.
The extras on this disc are probably the best out of any SNL release. Commentary, photos, "lost" sketch, and a TV appearance. (read entire review)
The Best Of Tom Hanks - Tom Hanks - 7 times (6/26/2005)
Summary of "The Best Of Tom Hanks - Tom Hanks - 7 times": Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, and he's definitely made his mark in Hollywood. He's at the top of my "famous people I'd like to meet" list, and has been there for many years. This DVD contains some great sketches with Mr. Hanks, and fans of his will want to add it to their DVD collection. (read entire review)
Best Of Chris Kattan - Mr. Peepers is my friend (9/23/2004)
Summary of "Best Of Chris Kattan - Mr. Peepers is my friend": Am I the only one that Gets Chris Kattan and Jimmy Fallon mixed-up? I swear I'd be watching some of these sketches thinking I was watching Kattan, and it was Fallon. I'm either a moron, or they look similar. Anyway, whomever I was watching on this DVD was funny. I like Mr. Peepers, but Mango is pretty awesome as well. I almost died laughing watching them sell Mark Hamill on the shopping channel, especially since I watched it the day Star Wars was released on DVD.
This is one of the better "Best of" SNL discs to be released, and it wouldn't surprise me if they followed it up with another volume down the road.

Summary of "25 Years Of Music - Bad 5.1!": I believe this disc is important, not only for the show but also for historical value, I think the 5.1 track is better left alone. It's nice that they included it, but I demoed the disc for some friends yesterday, and they enjoyed the stereo mix a lot more than the 5.1. It just sounds so artificial. Great set for SNL or music fans.
Since I typed them out for the review, I figured it would be a good idea to include all the performances on the set. Skits are not included (my fingers were sore). k

Best Of Will Ferrell - Cheerleader Craig (7/08/2003)
Summary of "Best Of Will Ferrell - Cheerleader Craig": I really enjoyed this disc. Not only are there some hilarious skits with Will Farrell, but he also has some excellent guest stars. Christopher Walken, Seann William Scott, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Jeff Goldblum, Drew Barrymore, Jim Carrey, Lucy Lawless and Sara Michelle Gellar can be found in the skits. My favorite extra was the "Outtakes" where Will and others try to keep it together while performing their skit; good stuff!
This release reminded me of something; I need to go and pick up Will Farrell's Old School on DVD. Fans of Farrell will dig this release from Lions Gate Home Entertainment. (read entire review)
Summary of "Best Of Molly Shannon - Superstar!": Molly Shannon is probably one of the most popular females to appear on the show in recent years. Just look at the "Best of" discs for the show and you'll notice that she's the only female to have her own disc. Mary Katherine Gallagher is her best-known character, and it's nice to see this release feature a few skits involving her.
Summary of "Best Of Adam Sandler - Good Com-pila-tion": Fans might be saying to themselves, "but I already have this DVD" and you'd be correct for the most part; this DVD was released back in 1999, although this one has been changed slightly. They've added the photo gallery, and the menus might be different (I've never seen the first release). For Sandler fans who don't own the first disc, you should pick this up. (read entire review)
