Summary of "The Complete 4th Season - Step into the fire": It's a shame this wasn't released on Blu-ray; I really enjoyed watching the third season in HD, but I assume sales of the set weren't good enough to justify the release of season 4. That could always change, but for now it's DVD or nothing.
This is a pretty good DVD set, though the quality of the "Welcome to the Set" featurette is pretty horrible. I don't think it was produced by the team that did the other featurettes; the quality just isn't the same, and there aren't any credits at the end of it. I wish there were some commentary tracks on the set, but I'll survive without them.
Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Buy it, watch it, love it.": I thought this show was a perfect mixture of comedy and drama. The scenes in the fire hall were usually lighthearted and full of jokes and laughs, while everything outside was serious. I also enjoyed seeing some of the cast members from The Job here, and they were able to contribute to the show, not just become dead weight. Lenny Clarke is hilarious as Tommy's uncle Teddy, and Dianne Farr is perfect as the female addition to the firehouse (though I thought she was a lesbian for the first while - I got confused with who was being sent over). I was slightly ticked that Dean Winters wasn't in the whole season; I liked him on Oz, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
I enjoyed the hockey scenes in the show, especially in the season finale. I'm a hockey-starved Canadian; I'll take what I can get!
This is a great show, and Sony put together a really nice set for the first season. There's little room for improvement, and I don't have much to complain about. I was excited to watch this show before it came, and it didn't disappoint me at all. I'd recommend this one. (read entire review)
