Summary of "The Complete 3rd Season - Spooky episodes are the best": I remember a number of these from their initial airings. My favorite episode from the season is "The Boogieman," a strange murder mystery involving Sam, Al, and dead bodies. The two-part premiere was also great; Sam leaps into his own body as a 16 year old, realizing that he can right some tragic wrongs in his past.
I keep holding out hope that Universal will include some extras on a Quantum Leap release, but they keep letting me down. Sure, season 1 had some, but I want commentary tracks, interviews, actor bios, outtakes, deleted scenes. God, throw us a bone here! (read entire review)
The Complete 2nd Season - The song is missing (12/14/2004)
Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - The song is missing": I knew Universal would price this set (22 episode) the same as season 1 (8 episodes), so I wasn't surprised when it was finally announced. I hate to say this, but I wasn't expecting all the music to be included in the set, though I'm saddened by the replacement of such a key song in the series ("Georgia On My Mind"). We all hear about how music licensing affects various shows, but some changes can sting more than others. It can be extremely difficult for studios to license older music, especially when some episodes use so many songs, but I feel the studio has to be upfront with consumers by including replacement information on the outside of the packaging. Consumers can be more forgiving when they're tipped off to these changes, and I expect to hear from some very upset Quantum Leap fans over the next few days as they experience the changes for themselves.
Music changes aside, Quantum Leap season 2 is some outstanding television. I enjoyed watching Sam leap from person to person, and watching him change the future. (read entire review)
The Complete 1st Season - Before Enterprise... (6/05/2004)
Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Before Enterprise...": This is a cool show that stands up quite well 15 years later. Because each episode is a period piece, the hairstyles and clothes are constantly changing so it doesn't look "1989." The special effects look a bit cheesy now, but that's easily overlooked because the stories are so great. I watched the show on and off, and I remembered catching a few of the episodes in this set.
The set is priced a bit high, and contains few extras, but the music is intact and the episodes look nice. I can't wait until they release season 2, the first full season of the series. (read entire review)
