Summary of "The Complete 5th Season - Great show, great set": I received this set 2 days before heading off on a weeklong trip to BC, so I tossed it in a bag to bring with us, as I had a feeling we'd have some down time to enjoy it (plus it's one of my wife's favorite shows). Sure enough, we had plenty of downtime thanks to us both being sick. I thought this season was awesome, particularly because they have a TON of great guest stars. Just look at these names: Lauren Lee Smith, Freddie Prinze Jr., Jean Smart, Angus Macfadyen, Adam Rodriguez, Zak Santiago, Carl Weathers, William Devane, Kevin Alejandro, Nestor Carbonell, Meredith Monroe, C. Thomas Howell, Franka Potente, Cary Elwes, Ralph Macchio, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Michael Gross, Cybill Shepherd, Mena Suvari, Ally Sheedy, Peter Weller, and tons of people from Twin Peaks. Speaking of Twin Peaks, the "Dual Spires" episode was absolutely awesome, and it made me want to pull out my Twin Peaks set and watch it (I have to get through many other sets first, though). I also discovered this "pineapple thing" after watching this season, and now I want to rewatch every episode!
Awesome show, awesome presentation on DVD, and a lot of great extras adds up to a release that you should have on your shelf. (read entire review)
The Complete 4th Season - I sense you're interested in buying this... (7/14/2010)
Summary of "The Complete 4th Season - I sense you're interested in buying this...": My wife absolutely loves this show. I enjoy it, too, but sometimes Shawn frustrates me with his ridiculous behavior. With that said, it's still a very fun show, and I look forward to watching it every year. Universal continues to deliver with the releases as well, packing them with material for the fans. It's always nice to have good presentations of the episodes, but it's even better when those episodes are accompanied by worthwhile extras. I do have a complaint though; why on Earth would you use a frame showing the killer as part of the Episode Index for an episode? Hello?! Spoiler-alert.
I look forward to June/July next year when I can sit down and watch season 5. We were recently in Vancouver and I saw a notice that the show would be filming in the area, but sadly it was the day after we were leaving to come home. (read entire review)
The Complete 2nd Season - I'm Sensing a Good Set (7/11/2008)
Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - I'm Sensing a Good Set": This is a great show, and could be one of my favorite "detective" shows currently on TV. The cases are interesting, but it's the relationships between the main characters that I enjoy the most. Shawn and Gus can be down-right silly at times, and the relationship between Shawn and "Lassie" is hilarious. I'm surprised Lassie hasn't cuffed Shawn and left him gagged somewhere - I know I would have.
Psych fans got a little treat a few weeks ago when James Roday and Maggie Lawson turned up on Fear Itself. The episode was directed by John Landis, who had directed the pair (a couple in real life) in two episodes this season.
Universal has done a great job with this set, offering consumers an attractive package and decent bonus material. I was annoyed by the "Where's the Pineapple" piece because it was such a sloppy edit (I was doing better work while I was in college), but otherwise it's a great set. Only one year to go for season 3! (read entire review)
