Summary of "Season 1 - A look inside the newsroom": Murphy Brown is a show that's aged well, at least in my mind. It's another show that I watched when I was a kid (is there anything I didn't watch?), but the jokes were over my head. Now I can laugh at jokes like shite, when I would never have known what they meant as a kid. I was trying to think who my favorite supporting character would be, and I think I've settled on Jim Dial, the anchor of FYI. He's just so rigid, and unlike anyone I know that it's hard not to laugh at him. His short answers are funny in their delivery, not in the content. Brilliant! It's also hard not to like Miles, the poor young boss of Murphy Brown. He's so young, inexperienced, and unsure of himself that you just have to laugh at the guy.
Warner Bros put together a nice set for the first season; 2 informative commentary tracks, and a wonderful featurette on the show. It's a shame Robert Pastorelli passed away; Eldin was a fan favorite of many, and his comments on the show would have been welcome. Bring on season 2! (read entire review)
