Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - What Would Mister Ed Say?": I'm excited to have the first season out on DVD, but disappointed that syndicated episodes were used. I'm always surprised when this happens since it's extremely obvious when an old show runs for 22 mins - that's not the proper time, and it means a cut episode is being used. It's over a third of the season as well, so if they choose to fix the problem (and I hope they do) then 3 of the 4 discs will have to be replaced.
Besides the syndicated prints being used, I'm quite happy to watch more Mister Ed. Sure, the idea of a talking horse is a bit silly, but it's a fun, and funny, show, and I hope we see more of it coming from Shout! Factory. (read entire review)
Best of Mister Ed Volume 2 - Ed wants season sets; he told me. (3/04/2005)
Summary of "Best of Mister Ed Volume 2 - Ed wants season sets; he told me.": I'd still like to see season sets for this show. I think it's pretty funny, and that's coming from a guy who doesn't like sitcoms, and prefers newer shows over the older ones. I was exstatic to see a "play all" feature on the discs; I think it's the first time MGM has put one on a TV set. MGM should have placed the episodes in the order they aired, especially when some of the episodes are connected ("Like Father, Like Horse" and "Ed, the Stowaway"). (read entire review)
Best of Mister Ed Volume 1 - I wonder what Mr. Ed would say about this? (12/29/2003)
Summary of "Best of Mister Ed Volume 1 - I wonder what Mr. Ed would say about this?": Fans of the show will be totally bummed by this release. Every other release by MGM has been a season set, except for 2 New Outer Limits discs. Why is this being released as a bare-bone "best of" set? The menus are frustrating - why should we click on a button to move to the episode selection screen when there's nothing else to click on? There are no chapters or "play all" and no bonus material.
