Summary of "The TV Movies - The TV movies get a divorce!": I had fun revisiting the MacGyver character, though I don't think these TV movies quite lived up to the series. I enjoyed "Atlantis" a lot more than "Doomsday," though it still felt like a cheap "Indiana Jones" knock-off. My wife, who has never seen an episode of MacGyver thought it was a tad cheesy, but hey, that's part of the draw (isn't it?).
I'm glad CBS separated this from the complete series set for fans that didn't want to re-buy all 7 seasons in the complete series set (plus, I really hated that complete series packaging). (read entire review)
The Complete Series - A bit of a bummer... (11/23/2007)
Summary of "Season 3 - Same set, different season": I'm not sure what to add here; there are so few differences between the MacGyver sets. The episodes change, the number on the packaging changes, but the content is pretty much the same. It's hard to get excited over sets when this is the third season, and we have yet to see any extras. Paramount doesn't understand that fans buy the sets for the episodes, but it's the extras they talk about. Three months from now you won't find anything mentioned about this set, but sets with awesome extras (24 Season 2) are mentioned a few years after they've been released. And that's the thought I'll leave you with... (read entire review)
Summary of "Season 2 - More Mac": It's fun going back and watching these episodes, but I want bonus materials. Paramount is selling a lot of copies of the show, and it doesn't contain a lot of music, so why not spring for something. Hey, it makes my job easier, but I know the fans want bonus materials. Season 1 - You just need some gum, string and... (1/26/2005)
Summary of "Season 1 - You just need some gum, string and...": I would have loved to hear Richard Dean Anderson commentary tracks, or interviews, but there's nothing to be found on the set. This isn't entirely the fault of Paramount, since I've been told RDA doesn't do anything he's not under contract to do (Stargate SG-1 fans will tell you he hasn't participated in any of the sets released). It doesn't make any sense to include extras when the show has one star (at least in season 1) and he won't be involved.
I loved revisiting my childhood with this series, and I'll look forward to season 2. I'll hold out hope that something can be done for season 2, but I won't hold my breath. (read entire review)
