Summary of "Season 1 #4 - Aye Yi Yi Yi Yi!":
Once more, this release will be a must-have for any fan of the series, no matter how casual. A couple of the early classics are included here. The relationship with the four main characters was just starting to hit its stride, and some outstanding guest stars put Lucy into some truly hilarious situations. The laughter is at a premium here, but at a non-premium price. Easily found for $12.99 or less in your stores, this should tickle anybody's ribs! (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 1 #3 - Crazy Redhead":
As I said at the start, this is another solid release that I Love Lucy fans, both hard-core and casual, will want to pick up. This sort of thing is the perfect entertainment when you have a half hour to kill and want to watch a single episode. Or on a dreary weather day, when you're shut in and need a laugh. Or anytime you want something that will amuse the entire family. At in-store prices effectively in the $10-$13 range, this is a great DVD to have around the house! (read entire review)

Summary of "50th Anniversary Special - Golden Anniversary":
This is the sort of thing that one might pass over. On the surface, it looks exactly the type of "tribute" that is often made these days as a way to "cash in", with no real concerns about pleasing fans, recording history, or introducing any new information.

That is NOT what you are getting here. This is an in-depth look at the show, its history and highlights, and its lasting impact. While the 50th Anniversary Special is hardly definitive, and plumped up with some fluff in places, there is no doubt that this is an excellent item to have for Lucy fans everywhere. Whether you are a casual fan or a hard-core Lucy-lover, you will want this in your collection! Good job to "DesiLu, Too" productions. (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 1 #1 - The First Lady of Television":
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind: this is a must-own disc for anyone who is reading this review. If you are a member of the TVShowsOnDVD site, then you are interested in television, period...so you should go get this disc. If you chose to read this review, you are probably a fan of Lucy, and deserve to have this in your collection. Even if you are reading the review because you are just mildly curious, you should go on and get the disc anyway.

This is where it all started. Sitcoms were born in the form still used today with this show. It is the series that begat prerecording on film, that begat the three-camera form, that begat reruns! That pioneered so many concepts that came into standard use later on. And don't forget that a decade down the road was Star Trek...a show who's following taught Lucy devotees the true meaning of the word "fandom", so that the show survives to this day. This series set the tone for all that would follow in television comedy. And THESE are the episodes that started the series onto that road. On this disc is where TV history really began.

But forget the history. Forget the early days of television. Forget all the other reasons to own this disc, and just remember one thing:

YOU WON'T STOP LAUGHING! (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 1 #2 - More Pioneering Television ":
Every fanatic of the I Love Lucy series is hereby instructed to get this release. While nothing is perfect, the adventures of Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y De Acha III as Ricky Ricardo and Lucille Desiree Ball as his wacky red-headed wife have never looked or sounded better, in a format you can own in your home.

For more casual fans of the show, who don't intend to own every episode, and are just looking for your favorites, I will say this: The shows that constitute your favorites *might* be on this disc, but probably aren't. If they are, then it's a no-brainer: pick it up. If they are not, as I suspect, then you will probably be tempted to wait until the classic Ep.'s you like come out on their own volumes later on. But think on this: for an SRP of just $14.99, you should consider investing in this volume, to convince Paramount to keep 'em coming. That's one good way to keep your favorite TV being put out on DVD...buy what you ask for! This is a solid release, and nobody will regret owning it. (read entire review)
