Summary of "Season 2 - L is for 'Loving this show'":
I liked some of the cast changes for season 2. While Tim was a great character, it would be too hard for him to keep in touch with Jenny, so he had to move on. His "replacement," Mark, adds a very interesting storyline to the series. I won't spoil it by commenting on it, but it brings a number of issues to light, things that many people, especially men, don't consider. There was a lot more conflict in season 2, but I liked it.

Showtime made a number of improvements to the second season set. The inclusion of a "play all" option, and a chapter after the "previously on" segments are great. The commentary tracks are good, but many of the other bonus features lack substance. I didn't include all the bonus features in the list above because so many of them are flaky ads for cruises and other stuff. I have no problem with them being on the set, but they should have been under a "Promotions" section.

The L Word is one of the few shows to survive the recent purge at Showtime; I hope it lasts for many more seasons. (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 1 - What is the L word?":
It's not surprise that a single, heterosexual male would find a show about lesbians to be entertaining, but it's not for the reasons you may assume. I love shows with strong characters, and shows that are complex enough to seem real. Each character is defined from the pilot, allowing the viewer to become attached and involved in what goes on. An emotional scene will only work if the viewer cares about the characters, and I cared about these women (okay...and Tim, I guess). I can't speak about how well the show portrays lesbian issues, but the creative team behind the series includes many lesbians so I can't see it being a problem.

You might not have heard as much about The L Word as Queer As Folk, but it's a great series, and I'll look forward to watching season 2. (read entire review)
