Summary of "Season 6 - Nice Documentary!":
I loved the Mahoney arc that started last season, and ran throughout the entire sixth season, culminating in the two part season finale. Look for these guest stars appearing on the show: James Earl Jones, Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order), Dan Hedaya, Jerry Orbach (Law & Order), Sam Waterston (Law & Order), Carey Lowell (Law & Order), Vincent D'Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Kristin Rohde (Oz), Kathryn Erbe (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Peter Gallagher (The O.C.), John Glover (Smallville), Mekhi Phifer (ER).

I had to laugh at the start of "Fallen Heroes Part 1" when Bayliss and Pembleton were talking about "The Corner"; the book was written by David Simon, who created the series. (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 5 - I love this show":
The quality of these episodes continues to amaze me. I'm practically immersed myself in cop dramas recently (Law & Order, Without a Trace, C.S.I. and I have Silk Stalkings coming up) and Homicide is one of the better shows (though I really enjoy them all). Look for these guest stars appearing on the show: David Eigenberg Sex and the City, Dean Winters (Oz), Kristin Rohde (Oz), Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings trilogy), Mekhi Phifer (ER), Tate Donovan (The O.C.), Eric Stoltz (Chicago Hope), Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Howser, M.D.), Edie Falco (Oz, The Sopranos), Monica Keena (Dawson's Creek), Lee Tergesen (Oz) and Scott William Winters (Oz).

Just two more seasons left in the series, and season 6 has already been announced for January 25th, 2005. (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 4 - Great cop show!":
Season 4 was just as good as the third season, even with the cast changes. I just love how many Oz cast members appeared in this show. This season there were 5 of them: Kevin Conway, J.K. Simmons, Terry Kinney along with Dean Winters and Kristin Rohde who reprise characters they played previously. Of course there were more guest stars on the fourth season. Look for Frank John Hughes (Band of Brothers, Boomtown), Illeana Douglas (Action), Fisher Stevens (Early Edition), Terry O'Quinn (Millennium, Alias, Harsh Realm), Allison Smith (Spy Game), Gary Basaraba (Brooklyn South, Boomtown), Marcia Gay Harden (Meet Joe Black), Jay Leno, David Eigenberg (Sex & The City), Lily Tomlin (Murphy Brown, The West Wing), Bruce Campbell (The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Jack of All Trades), Chris Rock (Saturday Night Live) and Jim True-Frost, who starred in another show created by David Simon, The Wire.

This show has gone from being sorta "blah" for me to being a show I rush home to watch. I was watching NYPD Blue the other night wishing it was Homicide instead. If you love cop shows then this is one you have to pick up. (read entire review)

Season 3 - Sleeping in a coffin?? (11/30/2003)

Summary of "Season 3 - Sleeping in a coffin??":
The third season of the show is great. The 3 episode arc that begins with "The City That Bleeds" is the highlight of the season, but there are other great episodes as well. Meldrick, Munch and Bayliss decide to invest in a bar, and this provides a storyline wound throughout the season. There are a few future Oz cast members in the third season: Kristin Rohde, Edie Falco, Dean Winters and Lee Tergesen. Other guest stars include Steve Buscemi, Gloria Reuben, Tony Todd, Chris Noth and David Morse. Pick up this set and enjoy a really good cop show. (read entire review)

Summary of "Season 1 & 2 - A Thinking Man's Cop Show":
Well, it was a treat watching the first and second seasons of Homicide. It's a clever show that seems to break the rules for cop shows by making the storylines more realistic and the characters believable. "Three Men and Adena" was an excellent example of the writing and acting on the show. Also of note is the episode which guest-starred Robin Williams as a man who watches his wife killed in front of him.

My hat goes off to Anselm Dastner who designed the beautiful menus on this release. The menus are made to look like case files and lends itself perfectly to the DVD set.

If you're looking for a "thinking man's" cop show, you can't go wrong with this release. (read entire review)
