Summary of "Season 1 - Funny show, good DVD": I really enjoyed watching Gavin & Stacey. It's a simple love story (man and girl meet, fall in love), but it's told in a fun way, with memorable characters that'll leave you in stitches. Smithy and Nessa are hilarious together; I love their on-off relationship. It's also interesting to note that they're the writers of the show. I can think of lots of British comedies where the writers are also the stars, but not too many American shows. I wonder why that is?
BBC has put a lot of great bonus material on this set as well. The "How it Happened" featurette is a bunch of standard interviews, but it's still entertaining. The other bonus features, behind-the-scenes piece, commentary tracks, and outtakes, are great as well. I give two thumbs up for Gavin & Stacey on DVD - check it out. (read entire review)
