Summary of "The Complete 5th Season - Welcome the scab Dukes": Wow, the scab Dukes suck pretty bad. Probably a good choice to leave them off the cover of the set, though they appear on the spine. It's almost as though someone promoted the stunt doubles to actors; they suck. You won't see Bo and Luke until episode 18 (disc 7) when they ride into town and kick the scabs to the curb....err...send them off to their aunt's house.
How many cousins do the Dukes have, and why don't any of them have siblings? Seems we've met 5 cousins so far, but none of them are siblings. (read entire review)
The Complete 3rd Season - Season 3 (sorry, no witty comment) (6/25/2005)
Summary of "The Complete 3rd Season - Season 3 (sorry, no witty comment)": I think the Dukes of Hazzard DVDs are getting a bit better with each set. I wasn't too thrilled when I looked on the back of the box and saw "Dukes Family Tree," but I loved the featurette, and the "Bo, Luke & Daisy" interview was so fun, and informative. That's one of the reasons I like including the times of the extras in the reviews; I expected the "Dukes Family Tree" to be a family tree image, or a bit of information on each of the characters, not a 22 minute featurette on the relationships between all the characters.
Warner Bros is ramping up to the theatrical movie later this summer, and this set includes a ticket so you can see it on WB's dime. The fourth season has already been announced for August 2nd! (read entire review)
The Complete 2nd Season - Daisy Duke is the Duke for me! (2/18/2005)
Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - Daisy Duke is the Duke for me!": This is such a cheesy show that you just have to laugh at it. It's a fun show that you can just watch and enjoy; it's not very complicated. The driving scenes are great, and a lot of fun to watch. I was recently in LA and saw John Schneider at a party Warner Bros was having to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their television productions. I didn't have a chance to speak with him, but appeared to be having fun.
The Dukes of Hazzard may not be the most complicated show around, but it's a lot of fun to watch. Let's see, if Warner Bros could sell a DVD set to half the people that went to Dukesfest then they'll sell a lot of copies. (read entire review)
Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Yeee-Haw!": I can't say I've ever been a huge Dukes fan, but these episodes were a lot of fun. Fairly light on plot, and heavy on cheese, it's a show that shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's a fun show that's great to watch after a day of work. It was also fun to see John Schneider, who many know as Jonathan Kent, as a young whipper-snapper in his first television show. I don't think I ever put two-and-two together and knew that he was in Dukes but it was so odd to go from watching Smallville (the set I watched right before this one) to watching him as a kid in Dukes. The commentary track with Schneider and Catherine Bach (Daisy) was great! You can tell they had such a great time working together. It's too bad Tom Wopat (Luke) wasn't involved in the set at all. Maybe next time.
