Summary of "The Complete 5th Season - Dawson is the man": This was the last season of the show that I watched when it was on. Had I known that season 6 would be the last one then I probably would have kept watching, but I needed to trim shows I was watching, and Dawson's Creek was one of the first to go. The show just got to be a little too much for me, so it had to go. At least I'll be able to see how it ends when Sony releases the final season.
I was surprised by the lack of bonus material on this season. No commentaries, no featurettes, no bios...just some trailers for other titles. Sony, where's your love for Dawson?
This really has no place in a review, but their faces are everywhere so I'm going to bring it up; it's freaky seeing Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise together! He's 42 and she's 26 (16 years difference). It's almost as creepy as Pacey dating his teacher in season one. (read entire review)
The Complete 4th Season - Bye bye Andie! (9/27/2004)
Summary of "The Complete 4th Season - Bye bye Andie!": This season set is the beginning of the end for Dawson on DVD; only 2 more seasons to go. I didn't watch the final season, mostly because I didn't have the time, and because the show had become less interesting for me. This season was good though; lots of turmoil (big surprise there), but also some good, heartfelt moments. I cried when Andie left, but hey...that's what happens on TV shows. Here's a tidbit about Meredith Monroe; she appeared on the packaging of a sling that mother's can use to hold their babies. I saw it while walking through Toys R' Us one day, and I almost bought it just to show people. Try to find it the next time you're in the store (this was a few years ago now). Betcha didn't know that, did you?
Season 3 and 4 were release quite close together, so hopefully we'll see season 5 released in the early part of 2005, though this is just wishful thinking on my part. (read entire review)
The Complete 3rd Season - Return to Capeside (6/28/2004)
Summary of "The Complete 3rd Season - Return to Capeside": I'd have to say I'm not a fan of the theme song being swapped. While I'm not a music buff, I know what song should be playing during the opening, and I know Jann Arden didn't sing it (it's "I Don't Want To Wait" by Paula Cole). What bothers me more than a single theme song being replaced is the realization that this is becomming a common trend, especially where Columbia TriStar is concerned (they've swapped out other theme songs). On a lighter note, I enjoyed having Kerr Smith sitting alongside Paul Stupin for the commentary tracks on the set. While Stupin has been fun to listen to on his own, it's nice to hear him carry on a conversation with someone else. Hopefully he'll have someone else join him for the next few sets. The Complete 2nd Season - What on earth...? (12/15/2003)
Summary of "The Complete 2nd Season - What on earth...?": I really don't know what to say about this release. I can only guess that the first season of the series didn't sell as well as Columbia TriStar had hoped, but instead of stopping there they decided to cut expenses and release the second season. Cramming the 22 episodes onto 4 discs would save them authoring and replicating costs, and substituting the music would also save them a ton of money. While this isn't the best DVD release there is, I guess fans have to consider that it's this, or nothing. (read entire review)
The Complete 1st Season - Talk like a 15 year old!!! (3/24/2003)
Summary of "The Complete 1st Season - Talk like a 15 year old!!!": Fans of the show will be delighted with the Kevin Williamson commentary. He left the show in 1999 to pursue other projects, so I think people were surprised he was involved in the commentary recording. His insight and back story to the show are wonderful and entertaining.
Fans of the show will be happy with this set, but it's a shame the video quality isn't better. (read entire review)
