Summary of "The Complete 2nd Series - Don't buy books from here": I like British shows, but it's also frustrating because they're so short. It just takes a couple of hours to get through an entire season, but I don't want the fun to end. It's even worse with Black Books because I know there were only 3 seasons, so I have 6 episodes left to watch.
If you can appreciate British comedy then you'll like Black Books, so pick it up. (read entire review)
The Complete 1st Series - Don't judge a book... (1/03/2006)
Summary of "The Complete 1st Series - Don't judge a book...": Yes, a show about a book store can be funny. It's not the setting that provides the humor, well, it is to oa certain extent, but it's the characters that provide the laughs. Bernard is a funny drunk; the episode where he blacks out at a party ("The Blackout") is hilarious. Manny is a calm, collected guy, but you wouldn't know from looking at his long hair, and the crazy look in his eyes. And Fran, well...Fran portrays herself as a slut when she meets Manny, but I think there's more to her than that. the three of them make a great cast for the show.
They say you shouldn't just a book by its cover, and the same can be true about judging a show by where it's set. Black Books is a funny comedy, and I can't wait to watch the second season. (read entire review)
