Summary of "Season 1 - Bernie Mac says, "Buy this DVD!"": While talking about the show with some co-workers one day, someone asked me if The Bernie Mac Show contained a lot of "black humor." While his standup routines might contain jokes aimed at a black audience, I didn't find that I had a hard time relating to the humor in the show. The jokes are a result of situations that Bernie gets himself into, or something involving the kids. It has little to do with growing up in the ghetto, or other stereotypes associated with black culture. This is a show that can appeal to anyone, even people like me that really don't like sitcoms.
Taking care of kids can be tough on anyone, but watching a busy stand-up comic raise his sister's three children while she's on a "state-sponsored vacation" is enough to make you scream... with laughter!... (read entire news item)
