Before reading this review I'd suggest reading the review of "Tough Enough: Season One". It contains a lot more information on the show while this review contains very little.

WWF Tough Enough: 13 contestant battle to win WWF contracts (one male, one female). This DVD release includes some never-before-seen footage, but not much. I'd say 65% of the material is new, with the other 35% appearing in the show. One of the highlights has to be the reject submission tapes. I swear one of the guys in there is my cousin and you also get to see a lovely set of man-breasts. Ewww...

Video

Like all of MTV's reality series, Tough Enough is shot on video. Unlike the season release, I found the video on this release really inconsistent. It was dark in parts and a little muddy while other parts were nice and bright.

Audio

Thankfully the dialog in this release is uncensored except for one or two parts that were taken from footage that aired on the show. Most of the on-camera interviews have the audio coming out of all the speakers. I'm not sure why this is, but it's rather odd and distracting. As you can tell I took off major marks for this problem.

Extras - How we rate extras

Biohazard music video "Sell Out"
This video lasts 3:35. Biohazard did some of the music featured in the show, so I'm assuming that's why it's included here. I got a kick out of seeing Evan Seinfeld who plays Hoyt in Oz in there. I had no idea he was a musician.

Contestant Profiles & Submission tapes
There are bios for all the contestants (single screens) along with video clips from the submission tapes for 12 of them (Darryl is missing). Here are the contestants and the lengths of their video clips: Maven (2:11), Paulina (2:38), Bobby Jo (0:21), Nidia (1:33), Taylor (2:07), Greg (2:06), Jason (2:13), Josh (1:25), Chris "CK" (0:58), Chris "Harvard" (2:30), Shadrick (2:47) and Victoria (2:36).

Summary

I'm a little surprised by this release to be honest. I think this would have been better bundled with the season set and a little bit added to the price. It's unfortunate that extras were held from the season set to be part of this release and even there the cast tapes are duplication. This release is aimed at the very, very hardcore fans of "Tough Enough".
