I could use a vacation...
by Gord Lacey (All reviews)
10/17/2002

Every year (except the first two) the Real World cast is sent on an exotic vacation. This DVD contains snippets from 8 Real World cast vacations; London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans, New York and Chicago. The locations are Kenya, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Nepal, India, South Africa, Morocco and....New England (poor Chicago cast). Amaya, Jamie and Theo host this 50 min DVD.

Video

Real World is shot on video, and like the past RW releases, the quality is very nice. I noticed some video dropouts from one of the cameras used for the hosting segment. It was very short, but noticeable. There are 18 chapters for the feature.

Audio

This stereo track is just fine for a Real World disc. The audio is very clean, and everyone is easy to understand. Since it's mostly dialog driven, you'll find your center channel getting most of the workout.

Summary

While hardcore "Real World" viewers might like a recap of the 8 exotic vacations, I found everything went by rather quickly. We're given very, very short glimpses of the locations the casts went to, and don't get to know the people either. I'd recommend renting this over buying it, even for the die-hard fans.
