Where's Mr. Rush?
by Gord Lacey (All reviews)

The one and only Mr. Tickle has arrived to spread laughter across Dillydale, one tickle at a time! Join him and all his friends as they explore the world of farms, malls, and sightseeing along with some fun and zany hijinks. Mr. Tickle always has the knack to make anyone in Dillydale smile... even Mr. Grumpy!
I'm not sure about anyone else reading this review, but I absolutely loved the Mr. Men books when I was a kid. I think we had collected the entire series (at least whatever was out at the time), and my brother and I loved reading them. Of course, as with most things from my childhood, they were sold at a garage sale a number of years ago, probably for next to nothing. The fond memories I had of the books made me curious of this show, so I decided to check it out on DVD.

This disc contains 6 episodes. It's called "Mister Tickle," but he's not the only character featured.

Disc 1 (1:12:45)
Parade (12:07)
Sightseeing (12:07)
Movies (12:07)
Mall (12:07)
Farm (12:07)
Dillydale Day (12:10)

Presented in Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1), this show looks fairly good on DVD, though not perfect. I love the bright, solid colors they use in the show, and it translates well on the DVD. Unfortunately the DVD suffers from an interlacing problems, which makes some of the animation look a little strange. There are chapters in each episode, but not one right after the opening of the show. There's also a "play all" for the disc, actually, there are two of them, and I have yet to figure out what the difference is.

The disc includes a pretty standard English (and French) stereo track. The audio is good, and the directional effects are cool, but it's not outstanding. Episodes are closed captioned.

More Mr. Men Fun!
You're supposed to put the disc in your computer to access more fun stuff, but it didn't work on my Mac. There's a mac file, but it didn't work properly, so I have no idea what's supposed to be on here.

Previews of a bunch of other kids titles can be found here.

A Job for Mr. Tickle
There's a short book packaged with this DVD (you'll find it on the back of the DVD package).

This was a lot of fun to watch, and I was surprised at the show; I guess I expected it to be for little, little kids. The back of the box shows off the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, but there's one that I remembered liking a lot that's absent from there; Mr. Rush. A quick check on Wikipedia told me that there are many others not featured on the show, so Mr. Rush shouldn't feel snubbed.

Fans of the books, young and old, will enjoy watching this DVD.
