MEDIC, an anthology of realistic stories focusing on the skills of medial practitioners and the cutting edge medical technology, first aired in September 1954 running for two seasons. Each episode, taken from real case files from Los Angeles County Hospital, was introduced by Dr. Konrad Styner, played by Richard Boone (Have Gun, Will Travel; Hec Ramsey). MEDIC was not the first American TV show about medicine, but it set the tone for decades of TV programs to come. In fact, James Moser, the create and head writer of MEDIC, went on to create Ben Casey. The show was shot on location in the L.A. County Hospital and doctors there not only participated in the filming, but had editorial control to ensure that each medical drama on MEDIC was authentic and truthful in its portrayal of the medical profession. In addition to Richard Boone, the series featured an impressive guest cast, including Lee Marvin, Denver Pyle, Charles Bronson, Dennis Hopper, Vera Miles, Lee J. Cobb, Michael Ansara, and Andrew Duggan. This 6 DVD set, containing 44 heart-stopping episodes, represents the most complete collection of MEDIC ever released. Over 17 1/2 hours!
