In her first recurring television role, Barbara Eden (“I Dream of Jeannie”) stars in “How to Marry A Millionaire,” the late 1950s sitcom about three young women who move to the big city in search of wealthy men as potential husbands. The series is among the first based on a feature film, like the 1953 movie of the same name which starred Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable, three twentysomething women move to Park Avenue in New York City with the intent of landing a rich husband. Each episode follows the adventures, and mishaps, of the friends as they try to help each other meet a husband, while at the same time avoid eviction from the ritzy penthouse suite. The series also stars Merry Anders (“Dragnet”), Lori Nelson (“Day the World Ended”) and Lisa Gaye (“Death Valley Days”). Syndicated for two seasons beginning in October 1957, “How to Marry A Millionaire” features notable guest stars including Morey Amsterdam (“The Dick Van Dyke Show”), Richard Deacon (“The Dick Van Dyke Show”), Werner Klemperer (“Hogan’s Heroes”) and Ted Knight (“The Mary Tyler Moore Show”).
