In August
we told you that Duncan Regehr's 1990 "New World" series
Zorro had been licensed to A&E Home Entertainment. We passed along at the time that the target was to get the DVDs out by December of this year, with "
great bonus features, including outtakes and the original never-before-seen pilot that did not
star Duncan Regehr." Now we have an update for you about A&E's plans!
A look at Amazon shows that there are now
5(!) pre-order listings set up for this show, all currently displaying a release date of
January 11th (more on that in a moment). The titles are:
Yes, we've checked in with A&E Home Entertainment, and they've confirmed that the plan is indeed to release all 88 episodes together in
The Complete Series, a 15-DVD box set, along with four individual season sets at the same time. The season set option is being made available for fans who are unwilling or unable to pay the higher
Complete Series cost all at once, but A&E is going to temp fans to dive in and get the bigger set by offering an exclusive bonus disc featuring extras only available there, INCLUDING the aforementioned alternate series pilot!
You can go ahead and get your pre-orders in with Amazon using the above links right away, but A&E warns that the displayed street date there may in fact change to later in January...perhaps even a bit later than that. The production on these sets hasn't been finalized yet, so pinning down the exact date isn't possible yet. Still, "Early 2011" is a good way to think about it for now! Package art is among the material that is still being finalized, which is why we don't have it for you right now. Stay tuned, though, and we'll bring that to you (and other updates, if needed) just as soon as we can!
