Back in November, 2007, Genius Entertainment released
Zorro: Generation Z - Return to the Future, a single disc with the first 3 episodes of the series edited together into a single "movie" feature. Genius distributed the set for BKN International, and apparently their license agreement has expired.
This past December
BKN signed with Image Entertainment, and Image has now announced that they are releasing a brand-new title,
Zorro: Generation Z - Volume 1, on
July 14th. This is shortly after the series airs in the USA for the first time, on Telemundo, which
begins Spring 2009.
There is more content on the DVD this time, too, with the first 6 episodes of the series (132 minutes), for the same list price of $14.98 SRP as the Genius release. Image isn't providing us with box art just yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you as soon as we can! In the meantime, here's their back-of-the-box description:
Diego de la Vega is a modern day, young man starting his first year at University. He is a descendant of past Zorros who has reason to once again pick up the mantle when the city of his birth grows increasingly corrupt. Being a modern Zorro means no longer riding a horse. Instead, Zorro fights crime on a very cool purple motorcycle called the Tornado-Z. His crime-fighting tools include a Z-Pod, Z-Phone and other surprises befitting of a modern-day hero.
