Our friends at ToonZone.net have
posted a report saying that
X-Men: Evolution - The Complete 3rd Season has been delayed. It was mid-February when we first
posted news this, the first season-set-format release of the animated hit, would arrive on a 2-DVD set for $19.98 SRP on
May 23rd. Now ToonZone.net's "Stu" is saying that the set is delayed, with no new release date given.
Stu was nice enough to write to us here at TVShowsOnDVD, and give us the heads-up so we could pass it along to our readers, too. We're grateful, as ToonZone and TVShowsOnDVD have had a great relationship and we always try to share info and link to each other as frequently as possible. Stu gave us some details about how they were told that the set was delayed: both he and Jim Harvey over there had put in requests for review copies of the package, one for ToonZone.net itself and the other on behalf of affiliated site
Marvel Animation Age. Both were given replies that that the release date was no longer May 23rd, and that no new release date was set.
But TVShowsOnDVD owner/webmaster Gord Lacey didn't let it rest there! He was surprised that the guys at ToonZone were told this, when Warner's password-protected press site still showed the
May 23rd date, and retailers like
Amazon.com still showed that date as well. So Gord quickly called his regular studio contact at Warner, who pointed out that it was late on a Friday and that an answer might not be forthcoming until Monday. But our hero came through for us with a very quick answer nonetheless, e-mailing Gord with this exact statement: "
Gord, I just found out that the DVD hasn't been cancelled. It will be released on May 23rd."
So it appears that the folks at ToonZone may have been given bad info. Since they have that delay info up, and it's spreading around to other sites like
DVDToons.com, we wanted everyone to know that we have been told differently. We'll keep a close eye on this, and let you know if something does change. But at the moment we're confident that you'll be able to own this in just a few weeks.
