Yesterday we
reported that a DVD release of
As the World Turns - 20 Classic Episodes would soon be available to own via the
SoapClassics.com website. Today that site did indeed go live, and the 4-disc set can be purchased right away for $19.95 (plus shipping and tax).
We haven't yet gotten information directly from the studio in response to our inquiries about this title, but
this page at the direct-sale site gives a disc-by-disc breakdown of which 20 episodes are included on the set, including a story synopsis, cast members and the original airdate. Not that the program has been on the air since 1956, but the oldest episode included on this collection is from 1979.
What's next? Word around the 'net from multiple sites is that
ATWT's sister soap,
Guiding Light, is also being targeted for future DVD release, along with other possible shows. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll keep you informed about anything further we find out! Here's a look at the packaging and discs:
