It's been almost two weeks since we
posted our scoop that the
Wonder Woman - The Complete 2nd Season 4-DVD set would arrive in stores on
March 1st. Now the studio has made it official, and made their formal announcement of the set. Here's their description, plus another look at the cover art we brought you prior to Thanksgiving:
What's Wonder Woman up to now? Flash forward 35 years from her stirring Season-One adventures defending America in World War II. Without missing a beat, Wonder Woman leaps from the big-band era to the disco decade, still miraculously young and still using wits, wiles and astonishing powers to fight evil.
Season Two (21 episodes following a feature-length season premiere) introduces Wonder Woman to a new America of nuclear power and computers. Teamed with Steve Trevor, son of the dashing major she worked with during World War II, she takes the name Diana Prince - and takes on all kinds of danger from terrorists, mad geniuses, crooks and even a diabolical rock star while working for America's Inter-Agency Defense Command. Wonder Woman, we're proud you're on our side!
As we
also mentioned a couple of days after our original news, there is a documentary on this compilation that features interviews with star Lynda Carter ("Wonder Woman/Diana Prince"), exec producer Douglas Cramer, artists Alex Ross, Phil Jimenez, and Adam Hughes, plus entertainment author and best-selling novelist Andy Mangels (who in addition to those things is webmaster of the WonderWomanMuseum.com fansite). The offiicial name of the documentary is "Revolutionizing a Classic: From Comic Book to Television", and it explores the adaptation from the page to the screen with comparison, illustrations and the above-mentioned interviews.
This set, officially part of Warner's 50-year celebration of Warner-made TV shows, runs $39.98 SRP, for 1094 minutes of action-packed Amazonian fun! Video is in the original 1.33:1 of course, and audio is original as well in English mono. Subtitles are there in English, French, and Spanish. For those of you who missed the first season set, a two-season bundle is available with both banded together (no special slipcover; just shrinkwrapped into one SKU).
