Since the premier of Wolverine & the X-Men on television, various DVD releases have come out in the United States from Lionsgate, and in Canada from Liberation Entertainment. North of the border, Liberation has released 3 single-disc titles labeled as Chapters 1, 2 and 3 (together these contain roughly half the season), and they've also put out a Complete 1st Season set in a collectible Steelbook package. South of the border, Lionsgate has put out the entire first season of the show but as six single-disc titles labeled Volumes 1 through 6...I guess we should call it "the entire run of the show" now, though, since it's been made clear for a few months now that the program won't return for a second season (word is that the reason is due to problems working out the financing).
This morning we received word from multiple retail sources, independently from each other (and each one very reliable in the past), that Lionsgate is going to bring a "Wolverine & the X-Men - Season 1" title to the United States, in time for the holiday gift-giving season. It will be out on October 12th, and we're told by each of our contacts that it will be available in both standard DVD and in high-definition Blu-ray Disc! Pricing, specs, package art and extras (if any) haven't been made available to our sources so far. And we caution you to keep in mind that nothing is finalized, or officially announced, so these early plans could be subject to change. Call it a "rumor" for now, okay? We'll keep a sharp eye out for updates to this info, so stay tuned as further developments occur.
