This past Friday a fan named Jerry Bryant
posted a queston on the Facebook fan page of the Warner Archive Collection, asking them about
Wizards and Warriors. The team behind the WB studio's manufacture-on-demand (MOD) releases gave Jerry an answer that had both bad and good news:
"We've been wanting to release W&W for quite a while, but we're in limbo at the moment. Substantial technical work on the film elements for each of the episodes is required before we can master them to video. There is no ETA on when the work will be complete. We'd like to think that a release could be effected at some point next year, but we can't firm up our plans until the tech work is a done deal. We'll keep fans posted with any updates here as they develop."
So the 1983 show, which ran for just 8 hour-long episodes and starred Jeff Conaway, Julia Duffy, Walter Olkewicz, Duncan Regehr, Clive Revill and Randi Brooks, is indeed on the radar for DVD release. However, it's going to be a while before the studio can get the clean-up and prep work done to make it happen. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll keep you updated!
For now we've added the title to our site's
"What's the Hold-up?" FAQ, and we've added entries for other shows into it as well. Be sure to check it out!
