Hey, raise your hand if you remember this from our April 2005 news story!
Warner Home Video, distributor of HBO's DVDs, had prematurely supplied some DVD news sites (including ours) with that artwork last spring, before the 3rd Season DVD set was ready to be announced. And it never *did* get announced, not in all this time. Fans of the show waiting for these DVDs have gotten rather upset, wondering what happened and waiting on some word.
Now we have some word, after a fashion. A few of our readers (thanks to everyone who wrote in) spotted "New Wire information" at HBO's official discussion forums, where the paragraph being discussed concludes by saying:
Also, in the latest issue of Essence magazine (with Boris Kodjoe on the cover) Stringer is in there, as one of the top 10 sexiest black men, and they state that the season three DVD will be released in Summer 06!
That's the most info we've seen anywhere for quite some time. We don't have an issue of Essence magazine handy to check this against, so we're basically going on the word of the person posting that info. It was dated 10/31, almost a month ago, but we didn't begin to hear about it from our readers until the past week or so. Since then, HBO and Warner have not given us any official word to confirm or deny this, which may simply be due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We didn't want to wait to pass on what (little) we knew, though, since this has taken so darn long!
Stay tuned, and when we get solid info directly from the studio, we will pass it on to our readers just as quickly as we can. It's also worth noting that, after this length of time, it's entirely possible that the box art has changed. We'll let you know if that happens, too.
