Wings - Seasons 1 & 2 is getting ready for take-off on DVD at long last. Paramount/CBS is telling retailers that this release is thanks in large part to YOU, the readers of TVShowsOnDVD.com, whose votes from registered members of the site have made
Wings the #6 most-requested overall unreleased TV show on DVD, and Paramount's most-wanted item on that list. Thanks and Congrats to all of you for your participation!
The release date is
May 23rd. This is a 4-DVD set with 28 episodes: six from the short first season and twenty-two from the second season of the show. Stars Timothy Daly (
The Fugitive, Eyes), Steven Weber (
The Shining), Crystal Bernard (
Happy Days), Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church (
Sideways), and Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (
Monk) are joined by a number of guest stars, which include Megan Mullally (
Will & Grace), Craig Bierko (
Cinderella Man), George Wendt (
Cheers), John Ratzenberger (
Cheers), David Ogden Stiers (
M.A.S.H.), Barbara Babcock (
Hill Street Blues) and Maury
Povich (
Maury).
Wings, of course, revolves around the tiny, Nantucket Island-based charter airline co-owned by two charming (yet
polar-opposite) brothers who are surrounded by various eccentric friends and employees. Paramount also tells us that the 3rd Season set is being planned for the early Fall timeframe, and the 4th Season ought to make it out before the end of the year if plans hold (subject to change). For this first release, though, video is full screen, audio is English Dolby Digital Stereo, and running time is 10 hours 42 minutes. Here is your first look at the package for it:
