Back in November we
passed on info from Paramount that
The Wild, Wild West DVDs we were all expecting would be available in February. Since that month is almost here, and nobody is taking pre-orders for it, we've been trying to find out what exactly happened. The folks at the studio haven't responded so far, but we may have word from another source!
Over in the TrekBBS.com message board, a
posting from "Joy" has the following information about a possible
June timeframe, complete with lots of extras. Here is a quote from the pertinent portion of that message:
Unfortunately, the first season DVD set will not be out 'til June. Sue Kessler, the author of what many fans consider *the* ultimate book guide to the series, has been working with Paramount in the production of the DVDs and she's been keeping us updated on the W3 Yahoogroup. She let us know just the other day that it won't be 'til June that we'll get the DVDs...
However, it will definitely be worth the wait; from what we've been told, there are gonna be tons of great extras!
Our thanks to reader David Alan Hall, who forgot to tell us where he got that quote when he e-mailed it to us, but fortunately we were able to track down the source and give Joy her full credit. Please, PLEASE let us remind our readers to always mention the source of your information when you e-mail tips to us, or it will be delayed in getting posted (as this one was for three days). But we'll forgive David, of course!
And Joy as well, since she missed the correct spelling of Sue E. Kesler's name. Kesler's book,
The Wild Wild West, the Series, is unfortunately out of print at this time, but can be found at online auction sites (like eBay) and other used sources. It sounds like she's the right person to help with the extras, so we hope Joy's info is accurate. We're not able to verify it at this time, but stay tuned and we'll keep you informed of any other developments with this release. For now, if the delay to June is accurate, then we're sure fans won't mind waiting a little bit longer to get a truly well-made set, right?
