This past April, the folks at Timeless Media Group released a 3-DVD set of Audie Murphy's classic TV western show, Whispering Smith - The Complete TV Series
. It came with 25 episodes, described by TMG as "all 20 episodes that aired on NBC in 1961, and 5 complete never-before-aired episodes
." Despite that, and the word "complete" in the title, the set really was not
complete; there was another unaired episode which hadn't made it on the DVD release. Why not? Despite extensive searching and due diligence from TMG, looking through the NBC-Universal and UCLA archives for that item, it was not able to be found. So the studio made the decision to move forward with the portion that they did have available.
Then, after that release was already on store shelves and in the hands of customers, the lost episode unexpectedly found at the Library of Congress! So TMG decided to re-produce the 3rd disc in the set, to include that episode. Copies of the package which include the 26th episode will have a yellow sticker on the cover to let you know that this story, "The Interpreter," is inside. You can see an image of that now at Amazon, by the way. Unfortunately, however, the studio is not currently offering any exchange program to assist fans who have already purchased the 25-episode version of the set. Our thanks to reader Tim Nett for alerting us to this updated version of the set, and to TMG for confirming it to us and filling us in on how it came to happen.
