Shout! Factory has issued a press release for the August 15 release of The Weird Al Show

The Weird Al Show

THE COMPLETE SERIES

The Saturday Morning TV Favorite Arrives As A New 3-DVD Set
Including All 13 Episodes, New Commentaries And Fun Bonus Features
IN STORES AUGUST 15TH FROM SHOUT! FACTORY

LOS ANGELES, CA - Shout! Factory announces the return of "Weird Al" Yankovic to the family television set as "The Weird Al Show" makes its way to DVD. The Weird Al Show: The Complete Series will brighten the day of legions of Weird Al's fans when it arrives in stores on August 15th. The three-disc set contains all 13 hilarious episodes of the series which ran on CBS during the 1997-1998 television season. The discs include a plethora of entertaining bonus material, such as animation storyboards, original art galleries, and a karaoke version of the tongue-twisting theme song. Each episode features a commentary by Weird Al, producer Tom Frank and director Peyton Reed, plus guest commentaries from some of the cast members, including Judy Tenuta and Emo Philips. The Weird Al Show: The Complete Series three-disc set will be available for the suggested retail price of $34.98.

As an inventor living in a secret subterranean workshop, Weird Al's world includes his pet (Harvey the Wonder Hamster), his superhero neighbor (The Hooded Avenger), the twisted animated "Adventures Of Fatman" and a roster of friends and kooky characters. Guest stars appear throughout the season, including Drew Carey, Fred Willard, Dick Clark, The Amazing Johnathan, Teri Garr, Victoria Jackson, Dick Van Patten, Dr. Demento, Daisy Fuentes, Fabio, Dweezil Zappa, Alex Trebec, Gilbert Gottfried, Michael McKean, Patton Oswalt, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Stan Freberg, and many more! Several episodes include live musical performances from acts like Hanson, Barenaked Ladies, and of course, Al himself.

Ever since his 1983 self-titled breakthrough album, "Weird Al" Yankovic has been unsurpassed as a proven purveyor of parody and musical satire. His classic film, UHF, a string of Grammy® Awards and an avid (if not rabid) fan following made his 1997 television series, "The Weird Al Show," a cosmic inevitability. Yankovic's signature warped comedy, original songs, TV and movie spoofs, offbeat animation, and ability to attract a wonderful and motley collection of special surprise guests are what make the 13 episodes of this CBS Saturday morning show a treasure chest of all things Al.
