The other day we
had the scoop about the
June 2nd release date for
Weeds - Season 4, coming out on both
DVD ($29.98 SRP) and high-def
Blu-ray Disc ($39.99 SRP). Now Lionsgate has alerted retailers to more information about this release of the Showtime series, and our friends in the industry have passed it along to us.
The 13 episodes on this collection (3 discs for DVD, 2 discs for BD) will be accompanied by bonus material "including cast commentaries, a gag reel, newly produced featurettes and more!" (that's an exact quote from studio materials). Exclusive to the Blu-ray Disc edition, the cast commentaries will be in "Blu-ray bonus view" (video commentaries), assuming your BD player is capable (firmware versions 1.1 or 2.0). Although the complete specs of the DVD version aren't available yet, Lionsgate provided retailers with details about the Blu edition: video will be 1080p hi-def widescreen, audio will be in English with 7.1 PCM and a 5.1 option, and subtitles will be available in English and Spanish. Running time is listed as 286 minutes. Below is the studio description, followed by a look at the Blu-ray package art. Under Mary-Louise Parker's lovely curves you'll note that there's a "Growing Green!" logo; the studio notes in their material that the DVD packaging (and presumably the Blu-ray packaging as well) is "made from recycled paper and plastic waterbottle." Nice.
Everyone's favorite pot-selling soccer mom, Nancy Botwin, is back in the complete fourth season of the hit series WEEDS. Last time we saw her, Nancy's business (and house) was going up in smoke. So the Botwin bunch has relocated near the border for a fresh start with some new buds. Life's looking green again in this subversive and buzz-worthy comedy. Season 4 of this critically acclaimed series is more subversive, more hilarious, and more addictive than ever. Includes the complete Season 4 with 13 episodes on 3 DVD discs (2-disc Blu-ray).
