HOLLYWOOD, CA – Ken Burns's highly-anticipated documentary
THE WAR, arrives on DVD October 2, 2007 from PBS Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment. The epic, seven-part film directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick explores the history and horror of the Second World War from an American perspective through the personal accounts of a handful of men and women from four quintessentially American towns - Waterbury, Connecticut; Mobile, Alabama; Sacramento, California; and the tiny farming town of Luverne, Minnesota. These geographically distributed locations stand in for - and could represent - any town in the United States that went through the war's four devastating years. The 15-hour film explores the most intimate human dimensions of a worldwide catastrophe and paints a vivid portrait of how the war touched the lives of every family on every street in every town in America.
THE WAR is narrated by Keith David and includes voiceovers from acclaimed performers such as Tom Hanks, Josh Lucas, Bobby Cannavale, Samuel L. Jackson and Eli Wallach and features new recordings by Norah Jones and Wynton Marsalis, as well as war-era favorites from Benny Goodman, Nat 'King' Cole and more.

THE WAR is a six-disc set presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround and English 2.0 Surround and English subtitles. Total runtime is 15 hours. The DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $129.99 U.S./$149.99 Canada.
