Unlike the release of
Voltron - Volume 1: Blue Lion, Best Buy will NOT apparently be getting
Voltron - Volume 2: Yellow Lion any earlier than any other retailer.
In
news we posted earlier this week, we passed on info that
Yellow Lion was delayed from release on this coming Tuesday (11/21), to
December 12th instead. During that story, we mentioned that a Best Buy employee had told us that they were "pegging" the new date for that chain as being just a week's delay, for 11/28. But by the end of the week, Media Blasters had informed us that this is NOT the case! Here is a quote, in response to an e-mail I sent them, asking about the delay in general, and asking if Best Buy would get the release any earlier than the other sellers:
Hi David...official word I have on the matter is that Voltron V2 has been pushed back to 12/12/2006. So you still have plenty of time to get an early review up! I do not have any....word on separate dates at this time. If anything changes, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks!
And yes, as the response I got from Media Blasters indicates, I *do* have a set of check discs for this title, and I intend to post another mini-review of it, probably during the upcoming holidays. I've been unable to do so as of yet, due to commitments to my full-time job, where I have been involved in an enormous project (which is why TVShowsOnDVD readers haven't seen many news posts from me lately!). I do have to work the days following Thanksgiving, and on the holiday itself I will be spending time with family, of course. But before that weekend is over, I should have my thoughts posted.
Getting back to Best Buy for a moment: we've received a few e-mails from readers this morning, who tell us that the new Best Buy weekly ad shows
Yellow Lion in it, on sale for $22.99 and still saying it will be out on Tuesday. Uh-uh. I've confirmed with my local Best Buy that they won't have it this week, and of course Media Blasters has already said Best Buy won't have it. To put a cap on it,
the listing at BestBuy.com shows the same December 12th date that Media Blasters confirmed with us. I don't know what Best Buy's plans are in regard to honoring this week's sale price come three weeks from now, but we'll let you each discuss that with your local Best Buy location.
In the meantime, you can
pre-order it from Amazon for that same $22.99 price, and get it delivered straight to your door with no worries.
And you can
pre-order Volume 3: Green Lion from Amazon as well. As we've reported, it will come out on
February 27th everywhere (including Best Buy, at least at the moment). Amazon's current pre-sale price is $27.99, but that's expected to come down as we get closer to release date (and current pre-orders will have the price lowered to whatever future pre-release sale price Amazon makes adjustments to).
