It's been almost two months since we got
the long-awaited word that
Voltron: Defender of the Universe would finally come to DVD in North America! At the time, all we knew for a timeline on this release was "September". Now we have a bit more for you!
According to the good folks at RightStuf.com, Media Blasters has set a street date of
September 26 for
Voltron: Defender of the Universe - Set 1. It will be a 3-DVD set running 375 minutes. Cost will be $39.95 SRP.
Don't forget that on the day of the major announcement, it was said that there would be "
an aggressive video restoration process, and remixed 5.1 audio.", and that each 3-disc set would hold around 15 episodes. There was also some word of "
premium special edition packaging" for these releases. The rumors that we hear at TVShowsOnDVD about that is that Media Blasters would like to try to put these out in some nice collectable tins. This puts a huge smile on my face, but it IS just gossip right now, though, so please don't take it too dearly to heart just yet! We're trying hard to keep on top of this release, thought, so stay tuned and we'll keep you updated.
