Voltron: Defender of the Universe -Release Date, Cost, Extras & More for 'Vehicle Force' Voltron's 2nd DVD Set!
3-disc package, officially labeled Volume 7, arriving just days before Christmas
Posted by David Lambert
This morning Amazon.com added a pre-order listing (see the link above) for Voltron: Defender of the Universe - Collection 7, the second release of the "Vehicle Force Voltron" episodes from the classic '80s cartoon. Information provided to retailers by Media Blasters includes word that this will contain 18 episodes (#'s 91-108), plus extras such as Interviews and Previews of upcoming DVD releases for Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV (the two Japanese anime series that were the basis of the American episodes for Lion Force Voltron and Vehicle Force Voltron, respectively).
Video will be full frame, and audio in English. Cost is $34.99 SRP in the USA and CA$39.99 SRP in Canada, for 450 minutes running time. Like next week's Volume 6 release, this new 3-disc set will come in a type of package described as a "jewelry box," rather than tins such as the Lion Force DVDs came in. "Voltron: Defender of the Universe - Collection 7 (Vehicle Force)" will be available on December 23rd.
Our thanks to reader Scott Moore for making sure we had seen this (we had), and to our friends at RightStuf.com for some of the above details. As longtime TSoD readers know, we don't cover Anime releases (such as GoLion and Dairugger) here, but RightStuf is a great place for your anime needs. Package art for the new release isn't available yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you just as soon as we can! In themeantime, here's the studio description:
Space may be the final frontier, but it will also be the final resting place for the Voltron force if they're not careful. Caught up in a civil war they do not understand, Jeff and the team are under attack from all sides. Hazar is removed from command and put on trial for treason by the Drule Empire, paving the way for Marshal Keyzor to take over the fleet. Now Commander Hawkens and the crew of the Explorer are forced to deal with the full power of the Drules, led by their old enemy Nerok.
Stretched to their limits, members of the Voltron Force keep getting injured, and Voltron itself is so badly damaged they can no longer form the super robot. But this is all a feint for the Druel Empire's most dangerous plan yet: all-out war on planet Earth and the Galaxy Alliance!
