It's been a couple of months now since we last
updated you about the timing of DVD releases for the "Vehicle Force" episodes of
Voltron: Defender of the Universe. Now WEP's Voltron.com website has been updated with the info pictured below, giving a more exact timeframe for the first of these releases than we've ever had before!
Before we get into that, we should also mention that Voltron.com is the place for you to keep an eye on for the official
Voltron CD soundtrack, which WEP recently told us is coming out next month (May). Keep an eye out for it there!
Now, back to DVDs: As you can see, there are confirmed to be 3 releases in the works to cover the "missing" 52 episodes of
Voltron, all of which are from the "Vehicle Force" incarnation of the series. It consists of the Turbo Terrain Fighter Group (land team), the Aqua Fighter Group (sea team) and the Strato Fighter Group (air team). It's a good guess - and one
I made a year and a half ago - that the three DVD releases will be named after each of these three squadrons...but it's only my guess, and the studio hasn't confirmed it yet. Each release will have 17 episodes, with one of them getting an 18th ep to make sure all 52 make it on the discs.
When is this happening? As you see below, the first of these will finally hit in the
Late Summer/Early Fall 2008 timeframe. We're unfortunately not able to keep up here with reporting about the strictly-anime releases of titles like
GoLion (and eventually
Dairugger; there are many excellent anime sites that can accommodate people who are interested in those titles). But we're keeping a close eye on the classic USA program
Voltron, as always, and we'll update you with an exact title, street date, contents and package art for these release just as soon as it's all available, so stay tuned!
