Since 2006, World Events Productions (WEP) has partnered with DVD production houses for various home video releases of
Voltron: Defender of the Universe, resulting in every episode of the original classic animated series being released over the years. This year saw the premiere of the new continuation of the original program, by way of the Nicktoons show
Voltron Force.
While we wait for word about DVD releases of the new cartoons, WEP and Classic Media have been releasing single-disc "best-of" DVDs of the original Lion Force adventures. In mid-August they bowed
The Legend Begins, with the first episodes of the show. At the beginning of next month they will street
The Final Battle, with the climactic conclusion of the Lion Force's struggle with Zarkon and Lotor.
Now we see an Amazon pre-order listing for a third title along these lines, a
December 6th release of
Voltron: Defender of the Universe - The Black Lion Collection. This item, probably aimed to be ideal as an inexpensive gift for the holidays to casual fans of the show, runs approx. 300 minutes and will cost $12.95 SRP. No box art is available yet, nor do we know which episodes are included. Stay tuned!
