A British television classic, based on the detective fiction of Nicolas Freeling.
Nothing electrifies Amsterdam cop Commissaris Simon "Piet" van der Valk (Barry Foster, Frenzy, Smiley's People) like a new murder case. Once on the trail, the dapper detective goes by his instincts, not by the book. His investigations lead him into all corners of the Dutch capital, from the immigrant bars and apartments of the low-rent district to the boardrooms and deluxe hotels of the high and mighty.
Although he seems more than a little jaded, Van der Valk receives assistance from the eager Inspecteur Johnny Kroon (Michael Latimer) and indulgence from his ever-supportive French wife, Arlette (Susan Travers). And while he's more likely to be at a pub than dealing with the political fallout of his cases, there's never any doubt about his devotion to his job, nor the lengths to which he'll go in his headlong pursuit to catch a killer.
Van der Valk - Set 2 is coming from Acorn Media in just a matter of weeks! This June 29th release is a 2-DVD set costing $39.99 SRP in the USA, and CA$52.99 SRP in Canada. Extras include biographies of creator Nicolas Freeling and star Barry Foster. The featured 7 episodes run approximately 353 minutes, and are shown in full screen video, and English Stereo sound.
