It's been almost 2 years since we posted our
heads-up story that NBC's 1976 Dick Van Dyke-starring variety show,
Van Dyke and Company, was being planned for a DVD release. At the time we had no details, however...no specific release timeframe, no details, and not even a studio to name. We thought at the time that it would be out for release in 2010, but obviously that never happened.
A few days ago one of our readers, Dan Reese, asked whether there had ever been an update to it, and we had to admit to him that we'd never heard anything further. But since then we've been poking around with our industry sources, and we've learned that the studio which landed the rights to this program is MPI Home Video. And, while nothing is finalized or written in stone yet, they apparently hope to make it available, finally, in 2012. Our thanks to the powers that be for that bit of gossip, and to Dan for reminding us to check up on it! Stay tuned, of course, and we'll keep you updated more, as further events occur.
