With the
Freaks and Geeks DVD set now in stores and exciting its fans, Executive Producer Judd Apatow is turning his attention to another one of his old projects:
Undeclared.
Apatow had
previously talked about this series, citing the fact that the same company - then unknown - who was interested in releasing
Freaks and Geeks was also interested in releasing
Undeclared later on. Of course, we now know that the company involved was Shout! Factory, and we presume it is still they who are eyeballing this next project.
Now, over on the official
Freaks and Geeks website, Apatow made
this new post in regard to
Undeclared's status, and one that gives fans of that series a great deal of hope:
If Freaks sells Undeclared will be released. It is difficult for the same reasons as Freaks, music clearances etc., but hopefully the success of the Freaks DVD will make people want other shows in the same genre. We have lots of funs deleted scenes for that show as well. It is not as emotional a show as Freaks, not as touching, but there were some comedic moments that I love, and we had some fun people on it like Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Kyle Gass. I think it will happen, maybe late this year or early next year. Cross your fingers.
Judd, our fingers are indeed crossed here. Now's the time to declare your support for
Undeclared. Stay tuned, and we'll keep you informed of further developments with this title. Our thanks to Scott Kaczynski and Brad Preston for sending us notes about this.
