We're frankly not sure how much "news" is in this news, because we've already
been told that
Twin Peaks' 2nd Season is planned for release - probably late this year - using new video transfers from the original elements. Now a number of our readers are urging us to share recent updates at Dugpa.com and MovieHole.net with the rest of you who might have missed it. We DID promise to pass on "all the info", so let's take a look at what's being said in these new posts.
Dugpa.com wrote last week that John Sullmeyer, who created the petition to get the 2nd season released on DVD, had gotten an e-mail from "the Vice President of Marketing for Paramount Home Video International", and here is what that note said:
We're still pulling materials together, we have a lot of good interviews from the cast and Crew in the bag, but the biggest issue facing us now is resting on the masters, which are in a pretty poor state. We're hoping to have Mr. Lynch oversee the creation of the new masters and also the creation of a new 5.1 soundtrack!
so all in all, it's taken us longer than we hoped, but it's getting there - we're still planning to hold the Q4 release dates (if we can!).
Dugpa concludes by commenting that "if all things come together...fans will be in for a treat at the end of this year." MovieHole
quotes Dugpa.com's story, only making it more colorful by inventing phrases like "the masters are as clean as Mad Max's outback Loo."
The information I've gotten from industry sources is that the condition of the masters isn't as bad as all *that*, but they would be noticebly below par if used as-is, and that Paramount's interested in making the fans "beyond happy". You can see that dedication in
