We've
known for a month that Showtime's Emmy-nominated new series is coming to DVD in January. This morning Paramount Home Entertainment formally announced
The Tudors - The Complete 1st Season for release on DVD. Skipping over the New Year's holiday, this package has a street date of
Wednesday, January 2nd.
There
had been some rumors of a hi-def format release on home video, but only a standard definition DVD release was announced this morning.
The 10 episodes will run 550 minutes and are presented in the original widescreen video format. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (
Elvis, Mission: Impossible III) stars as King Henry VIII, alongside cast that includes Sam Neill (
Jurassic Park, The Hunt For Red October) and Gabrielle Anwar (
The Three Musketeers, Burn Notice). Stay tuned for box art.
